Wood Duck
This wood duck is made of wood. Carved for friends Polly and Pete from an oak tree branch that was growing out over their garage in Orlando. Pete and I couldn’t lift the piece of oak to put it in our car so I could bring it home. Had to roll it up a ramp. Wood ducks were living in their back yard along the lake. The wing span of Wood Duck is 24 inches.

Mermaid
3 feet, 3 inches long
I got to thinking. A mermaid is half woman and half fish. This is mermaid reimagined.

Fish
My brother Jerry handed me a railroad tie. I carved this red fish and gave it right back to Jerry and Sherry.
Rabbit in Hands
My son Kyle and I were out in the car and saw that a cedar tree was being cut down in a park. Kyle said we should go back and see if they had left any pieces worthy of carving. We found a piece of cedar and out of it I carved this rabbit, a fish, and the thespian chalice.

Blues Brothers
This carving is from cedar. There are Blue Runners or Blue Fish chasing a school of mullet fingerlings. It is 3.5 feet long. I entered this piece in an art show at the college where I was teaching. It was chosen to be the first piece that people would see when they came to the door. A sign by it read “Anyone can be an artist.”

Ring of Fish
I carved this ring of crappie from a used wooden toilet seat! :) It was a present for my brother Jim and Kay.
Mermaid Rising
Bob K. gave me this piece of wood. I carved Mermaid Rising - a mermaid in the coral reef on the ocean floor reaching up toward the light. I gave the carving to him at Lake Martin.

Tarpon
I like fish! This one is three feet long.
